Japanese Style Deep Soaking Tubs
Conceptually derived from the traditional Japanese Deep Soaking Tub, the Ofuro, our baths in this category have brought new style and added function to bathing. As their name states, the bather is able to sit in relaxed comfort while submerged to the upper chest in water. At the same time, by substituting depth where length and width are restricted, they are space - saving and use less water than the conventionally shaped bath, because of the space taken by the seat. All require an extended Waste/Overflow.
There are six considerably different tubs in the range. The two Imersas and the Nirvana – because of their depth - need to be sunken or have a step, partial or full length. With this step they are easier to enter or exit than conventional baths, particularly for the less agile. (The bather stands on the step, sits on the rim, and swings his/her legs into the tub). With the two Calyxes this step is optional, with the Xanadu unnecessary.
The last named Xanadu is the first-ever Double Deep Soaking Tub.
The Nirvana - our best selling tub worldwide – because of its sloping rounded back and curved seat, its arm and foot rests, both supports and cradles the bather’s body, fulfilling comfort, and relaxation, as well as function, and so is constantly praised by satisfied clients as “like a comfortable armchair and without any feeling of constriction”.
The two Calyxes are minimalist versions of the Nirvana.
The advantages of the Japanese style Deep Soaking Tubs are:
- They save space
- They use less water than a conventionally shaped bath of the same external dimensions
- With a step they are easier to enter and exit, and so safer, than a conventional bath,
because at no point does the bather have to balance
- Turned on their sides they pass through a conventional 730 mm/29” door
- Taps/Faucets can be mounted in any location where space permits. The only rule is
practical plumbing
- They each can have an overhead shower mounted, together with a bath screen.
Each tub is handmade & custom-built to order and can be in literally any colour, and external dimensions can often be modified to suit space available– please see Custom Options.
Being built in FICORE ® composite they have several advantages over standard bath
materials - please see The Bath Reinvented, and Our Guarantee.
NOTE:Because of the varying dimensional requirements in different installations Cabuchon Bathforms does not supply standard panels but it can build a bespoke panel as an integral part of the tub, if commissioned to do so.
